Engineering Internship Program

CareerDC charges a fee for the coordination of each internship program. You will get a tailored resume, interview training, unlimited interviews, access to our network of host companies, an internship placement relevant to your studies, an accredited WIL course (where applicable) and support during your internship.

Gain Practical Experience in Engineering

The Engineering Internship Program offers a 12-week work experience placement with an Australian internship host company.  The program is designed to connect you with industry professionals, develop your technical and soft skills, and provide academic credit towards your engineering studies in an Australian university.

Why Choose CareerDC’s Internship Program?

  • Work on Industry-Relevant Projects
Gain hands-on experience in practical engineering tasks, such as CAD design, project planning, materials testing, and system analysis, depending on your host company and engineering major.
  • Develop Professional Skills
Develop your technical, communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills while working on a range of tasks in a real Australian workplace with established professionals
    and industry-standard tools.

  • Get First-Hand Engineering Insights
Gain insights into engineering workflows, safety regulations, and innovative technologies in industries such as construction, manufacturing, energy, and telecommunications (depending on your host company).

Who Can Apply?

  • University Students in Australian Universities and Colleges
Whether you’re an international or local student studying engineering at an Australian university, this program will help you gain academic credit and practical work experience relevant to your engineering major.

  • Recent Graduates
If you’ve recently graduated or your degree does not require an internship, you can still take part by combining your work experience placement with an accredited Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program to build industry-relevant skills.

Your Work Experience Placement

Your internship placement will be matched with your internship requirements and preferences, including start date, duration, and location. Example host companies include:

  • A construction engineering firm specialising in large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • A technology-driven manufacturing company.
  • A renewable energy organisation focusing on sustainable engineering solutions.

What You’ll Do During Your Work Experience Placement

Your tasks will vary depending on your host company and engineering major, but your internship may involve:

  • Assisting with designing, drafting, and modelling using industry-standard software.
  • Supporting quality assurance, system analysis, and testing in real-world engineering applications.
  • Collaborating with engineers on project management, cost estimation, and technical documentation.
  • Conducting research, simulations, and prototype testing to improve engineering designs.
